of Hope model.)
I
recieved a grant from the Marin Arts Council to lead a
Creative Empowerment class series for low income Hispanic girls. It was a
challenging and insightful experience. I has not been completed officialy,
so I don't have pictures and conclusions. The group was in collaboration with
the Canal Community Alliance. See
the flyerom the
I have lead Creative Activism playshops at The Youth
Activist Convergence, the Deep Green Conference,
and the Changers

I have volunteered for & been inspired by:
Youth Speaks- teen creative writing program,
and with Challenge Day
WORD CRAFT
This
class combines music exposure and appreciation and
creative writing with an emphasis on development of originality
and clarity of verbal expression, and stage presence.
We will listen to a lot of different music, spoken word, and rap lyrics
and use them as springboards for discussion and inspiration for our own writing.
Through free writes and other creative writing exercises, we will get a chance
to express our thoughts, and clarify, refine, and develop them to publishable
or performable pieces that we can be proud of.
Music we draw form spans from hip hop to reggae, to rock, pop,
world, and spoken word.
I
am a firm believer in the power of the Arts to deepen self insight and empower
self-expression.
I recieved a grant to create the Expressive Arts and Empowerment Program
& do a first run of classes with low income teenage girls. see
